No Name Pub on No Name Key - known for its pizza, so that's what we had for lunch on Monday, February 7.
Another photo of No Name Pub. It is somewhat of a feat if you can even find this spot as the pub sits along side the road way down off the beaten path. In fact, the sign on top of the pub includes the words "you found us"
Jim took this picture of the three of us, me, Connie and Donnie, as we sat at the bar finishing up our pizza lunch. That is dollar bills stapled to the walls of the pub - many, many, many dollar bills.
Another picture of Donnie, Karen and Connie just after we finished lunch at the No Name Pub.
A palm tree outside No Name Pub has evidently suffered from people carving into its trunk. So, a sign was attached to maybe deter some of that carving. That is Jim walking toward me.
Interesting story - while I was outside taking some pictures of No Name Pub, I noticed a group of four ladies, each taking pictures of the other. I asked if maybe they wanted me to take a group picture and they said sure, that would be great. After the photo session, I asked where they were from. Each said, "from North Carolina." They asked where I was from and a said a little town called Norwood. One of the ladies told me she knew exactly where Norwood was; that, in fact, Bob and Mim Sims were her husband's aunt and uncle; that, they had, in their house a tiffany style ceiling lamp that Bob had made. I was so glad our paths crossed. The group, collectively, were from Calabash, Mooresville and Hickory. When I introduced the ladies to Jim, Donnie and Connie, Donnie mentioned his barber shop right down hwy 17 from calabash, and the lady that her husband is related to the Sims, from Calabash, said she would tell her husband - that he was not that happy with his current barber!
As we were leaving No Name Pub, I snapped this photo of the window seal in the dining room. Again, you can see all the stapled dollar bills.
Traveling back down Hwy 1, we pulled into a fishing supply store. Across the parking lot from the store, was a fresh fish market. When I had casually mentioned to Connie that I could not ever remember eating Stone Crab, she was on a mission to get some for our dinner. While they were shopping, I roamed around the parking lot. On the back side was this old crate.
I enjoyed seeing the boys, Jim and Donnie, were wearing identical shoes. This is at the steps to the camper where they had easily slipped out of their shoes to go into the camper.
This picture was taken on Tuesday Morning, February 8. By a strange concurrence of events, it was decided by the boys that I would "take one for the team." Meaning, I would be the one going down to Key West with Connie for the prerequisite Duval Crawl. Meanwhile, Donnie and Jim would get to go fishing on the fishing bridge. Here, Donnie is rigging the lines South Carolina style.
Donnie getting ready to cook Tuesday Evening Dinner. There was no luck in fishing (no keepers) so Jim and Donnie bought some Mangrove Snapper and Grouper. Donnie decided to grill the grouper and he fried the snapper.
Meanwhile, Connie is in the camper kitchen preparing the remainder of the meal. She had Jim take the stone crab outside to crack them with a hammer. She is preparing slaw, green beans, sauces. As you can see, Connie is in her element in the kitchen and we all enjoyed the fruits of the labors of Donnie and Connie.
Karen, Donnie, Connie and Robbie at Blue Heaven on Friday, February 11. It was on Wednesday, February 9, that I began my downward spiral into sickness. I rallied for this outing on Friday Morning, then, came back to the camper and went to bed. I can really say I hardly remember this outing.
